Most indie authors are flying blind. They throw money at Amazon/Facebook ads, hope the “algorithm” notices them, and pray their blurb isn’t the reason their conversion rate is in the gutter.
I started The Indie Lab on January 9 because I was tired of “expert” advice that didn’t involve skin in the game. I don’t just write about AI and self-publishing. I experiment on my own books, my own budget, and my own career. If it breaks, I tell you. If it works, I build a guide for it.
What is the The Indie Lab?
This is a workspace for self-publishing indie authors who aren’t afraid to use AI to solve the “Visibility Problem.” We don’t do “AI slop.” We use Large Language Models as high-leverage partners for market research, blurb engineering, and manuscript auditing.
Where to Start (The Essentials)
If you’re new, start with these “Lab Reports” to see how I work:
The Death Of AIDA – Why your book is invisible in the era of Amazon AI algorithms and AI search engines.
How to Rescue a “Quiet” Launch – How to utilize promo sites to increase visibility.

Why Join the Paid Inner Circle?
Free subscribers get the results of my experiments. Paid members get the systems behind them — the exact prompts, frameworks, and tools I use on my own books, documented as I build them.
This isn’t a course you buy once and forget. Every paid post adds something new to the stack.
What’s in the stack right now:
The 3-Pass AI Edit The exact prompt system I use to edit my own manuscripts – Pass 1 for soul and structure, Pass 2 for copyediting, Pass 3 for dead metaphors across the full manuscript. Includes the model-switching insight that changed my catch rate. [Read more →]
The KDP Dashboard Autopsy Prompt A no-sycophancy forensic audit you run on your own CSV exports. Seven diagnostic sections: income architecture, launch window analysis, series decay, Ghost vs. Rising Star diagnosis, the 90-day cliff test, ad spend correlation, and a verdict on what to write next. Run it on two models and compare. [Coming up on May 18]
The Algorithmic Copywriter eBook The full framework for writing blurbs that satisfy Amazon’s A9 algorithm and convert human readers simultaneously. Why AIDA is dead, how semantic search actually works, and how to build a Hybrid Blurb that speaks both languages. Includes the AI-powered competitor analysis workflow. [Read more →]
The Universal Book Toolset A working app — not a concept, not a waitlist. Cover template calculator for KDP and IngramSpark, word margin and gutter calculator, 3D mockup generator, series LTV calculator. Free to paid subscribers. [Access here →]
The Engineering Indie Success Mini-Course Five modules on building a fiction publishing operation from the outside in. Market spec, stress testing, narrative architecture, prose and implementation, forensic editing. Written for authors who want a system, not a muse. [Access in The Lab →]
NovelReport — $20 off The tool the Kindlepreneur team built on the same framework as The Algorithmic Copywriter. Generates your full KDP metadata — 7 keyword boxes, categories, blurbs — from your manuscript. Normally $59.99, $39.99 for paid subscribers. [Get the discount →]
What’s coming:
More prompts. More tools. More documented experiments – including the BookVault special edition proof for the final Lightning War book, the full Facebook ad funnel rebuild, and whatever breaks next.
The stack grows every month. So does your unfair advantage.
$8/month. Cancel anytime.
The Frequency & The Pillars
I post deep-dive guides and experimental results 1-2 times per week. My focus is on three things:
Visibility: Ads, promotion, and discoverability — without burning your budget.
AI Integration: Practical, high-leverage ways to use LLMs in your publishing workflow.
Market Data: Moving from gut feeling to data-backed decisions.
Why Me?
In 2025, I used the exact strategies I share in this Lab to sell 8,000 copies and clock over 2 million Kindle Unlimited page flips. I’ve seen the “black box” of Amazon Ads and the chaos of algorithm shifts from the inside.
My findings – which have been unofficially acknowledged by industry leaders like Kindlepreneur – aren’t based on what I think works. They’re based on what my bank account confirms. I quietly run these experiments using my own tools so that when I give you a guide, I know it hasn’t just been “tested” – it’s been battle-hardened.
I’m not here to sell you a dream. I’m here to show you the math.
